Overview

Did you know?

Almost 50 percent of people in the United States do not have private dental insurance. This means more than 100 million Americans have no private dental insurance coverage This number is compounded by the fact that there is no dental coverage for the elderly. More than 70 percent of people over age 65 lack dental coverage, even though their medical care is covered under Medicare benefits. [1]

Without dental insurance, the out-of-pocket expenses for dental procedures can be costly, causing many patients to put off dental treatment. Ignoring dental issues, however, may cause the problem to worsen and lead to other unnecessary health complications. According to the American Dental Association, recent research suggests potential links between the bacteria that cause periodontal (gum) disease and systemic diseases. These findings advocate the prevention of periodontal disease as an important step in maintaining overall health.

But why travel for dental care?

As with many other goods and services, the global marketplace has given rise to competition. Within the healthcare universe the result as been the creation of a three dimensional reality for consumers when traveling internationally for medical services: a rise in higher quality care; an opportunity for dramatic cost-savings; and a level of superior service and patient experience.
